Amanda and Mitchell’s wedding at the Wild Carrot was classy, cool, and unapologetically them! These two wanted a celebration that felt elevated but never stuffy, and they pulled it off with total ease. From skipping cake cutting to custom trucker hats (yes, really), they ditched tradition in favor of a day that felt laid-back, intentional, and filled with joy. We spent a quick hour at the Missouri Botanical Garden for portraits, then it was straight into the party. Minimal formalities, max fun and one of the best dance floors I’ve seen in a while!
The morning kicked off in true champagne-sipping fashion. Amanda and her girls got ready in the coziest white PJ sets, matching slippers, and citrusy mimosas in hand. The vibe was relaxed but buzzing, everyone hyped for what was ahead. Amanda’s bridal look was modern and timeless, with a sleek off-the-shoulder gown and soft, glam waves. Meanwhile, Mitchell and the guys hung out in a private lounge setting that looked straight out of a whiskey commercial, laughing, toasting, and looking sharp in tuxes (Mitchell’s white jacket? A total serve)!
One of my favorite moments of the day was their first look. Amanda met Mitchell outside in the Wild Carrot’s courtyard garden, it was peaceful, just the two of them, tucked away under the trees. As soon as he turned around, he lit up. He held her face and pulled her in, and you could just feel how deep their connection runs. It was one of those “this is really happening” moments, no distractions, just joy and pure love.
Even with a tight timeline, we carved out an hour for portraits and made the absolute most of it! We headed to the Missouri Botanical Garden, and it was such a dreamy contrast to the urban, industrial vibe of the Wild Carrot. We wandered through roses and manicured paths while Amanda’s dress floated behind her like a scene from a movie. Mitchell never stopped smiling. These two were so present with each other, which made every photo feel effortless and full of emotion!
Their outdoor ceremony was set in the back garden of the Wild Carrot, modern square pillars, and white roses. It was clean, simple, and so elegant. Amanda walked down the aisle to a teary-eyed Mitchell, and the way they looked at each other the entire ceremony? Ugh, my heart. They kept the ceremony short and heartfelt, letting their officiant speak to who they are as a couple before sealing it with a kiss and heading straight into the celebration.
The wedding party was just as stylish as the couple, the bridesmaids wore black dresses in a mix of modern styles and fabrics, while the groomsmen kept it classic in black tuxes. The contrast against the garden backdrop was chef’s kiss. We got some fun, movement-filled photos with the whole crew, but also slowed things down for a few sentimental shots of Amanda and her girls hugging tightly and Mitchell getting hyped by his guys. Such a good group.
Okay, let’s talk about this reception. No cake cutting, no formal dances, no long speeches, just good food, great drinks, and the best energy. Guests grabbed custom embroidered trucker hats (a seriously genius favor idea), sipped cocktails, and snacked on cheesecake bites instead of traditional cake. The band absolutely brought the house down, think 90s throwbacks, early 2000s hits, and rock classics that kept the dance floor packed. The whole room was glowing with candlelight and warm string lights, and by the end of the night, everyone was sweaty, smiling, and screaming lyrics.
After delivering their gallery, I got the sweetest message from Amanda and Mitchell:
“We are sobbing!!!!! These pictures couldn’t have turned out any better. I can’t believe it. They are perfect! You captured our day so eloquently and made our dreams come true 🖤 I couldn’t have asked for a better person to capture our love!!! Girl you did better than right, they’re PERFECT.”
Cue me, crying all over again.
