Katerina & Almin’s day was the perfect example of how a St. Louis wedding reception can be completely centered around what matters most, celebrating with the people you love. Instead of a traditional full wedding day timeline, they kept things intentional and focused on gathering their closest family and friends for an unforgettable night at Grbic Events. The entire day felt warm, meaningful, and full of energy, blending Bosnian traditions with a few classic American reception moments in such a natural way!
Getting Ready at Home
The day started at the couple’s home, which immediately set a relaxed and intimate tone. There’s something about getting ready in your own space that just feels different, in the best way. Everything felt calm, personal, and unrushed. Which made it so easy for Katerina & Almin to just be present with each other before the celebration began. The details were simple but elegant, classic white heels, timeless jewelry, and the kind of invitations that feel like they’ll be kept forever. Almin getting ready nearby added to that quiet anticipation. And you could tell both of them were just genuinely excited for the night ahead rather than stressed about a packed schedule.
Couple Portraits in Forest Park
Before heading to their St. Louis wedding reception. We made a stop at Forest Park for portraits and honestly, it could not have been more perfect. The architecture, the soft light, and the open space gave everything such a timeless, editorial feel without trying too hard. Katerina’s dress moved so beautifully with every step. Especially on the steps and walkways, and the way the two of them interacted made everything feel so natural. Lots of laughter, a little bit of dancing, and those quiet in-between moments that always end up being the favorites. It felt less like “posing” and more like just letting them exist together for a bit before the party started.
St. Louis Wedding Reception at Grbic Events
The real heart of the day was their St. Louis wedding reception at Grbic Events, and it was truly something special. From the moment guests arrived, you could feel the energy building. It wasn’t just a reception, it was a full-on celebration of culture, family, and tradition. One of the most meaningful traditions was the handmade handkerchiefs that were pinned onto guests as they arrived. Each one had a bow, and the color symbolized their relationship to the couple. Which was such a cool and personal touch. Immediate family and members of the wedding party wore sashes. Making it easy to see just how important those roles were throughout the night.
The dancing was easily one of the biggest highlights. Traditional Bosnian dances filled the floor, creating this incredible sense of community where everyone was involved. At one point, it felt like the entire room was moving together, which is something you don’t see at every reception. They also had a traditional Bosnian singer, which brought such an authentic and emotional layer to the celebration. As the night went on, the reception naturally blended into more American traditions with cake cutting and music that everyone could sing along to. It felt like the perfect balance, honoring where they come from while also celebrating in a way that felt true to them now!
