A Colorful Summer Wedding at Cedar Creek in New Haven, Missouri

Kiernan and Joe’s wedding at Cedar Creek was colorful, fun, and had the best mix of editorial details and completely candid moments. They went with chartreuse green for the bridesmaid dresses and paired it with bright pink, coral, and white florals, which looked so good against all the greenery at Cedar Creek. But as much as I loved the details, this day really came down to the energy. From their first look happening right down the aisle to a New Orleans-style parade into their reception, there was always something fun happening!

A Colorful Summer Wedding at Cedar Creek

Kiernan and Joe opted out of doing a first look before the ceremony and instead saw each other for the first time as Kiernan walked down the aisle. Their outdoor ceremony at Cedar Creek was surrounded by so much greenery, with the colorful florals bringing everything together. The bridesmaids wore different shades of chartreuse and olive green, and I seriously loved how the colors looked in the summer light! Since Kiernan and Joe are from Louisiana, they also brought a little bit of home to Missouri with them. They had a New Orleans band play during their ceremony, which was such a fun and personal detail and gave guests a little preview of what was coming later!

10-Minute Couple Portraits That Felt Editorial + Candid

We had exactly ten minutes for Kiernan and Joe’s couple portraits. And yes, I actually started a timer! Instead of trying to squeeze a bunch of perfectly posed photos into that tiny window, I had them run around, move, laugh, and just have fun together. Somehow, we got so much goodness in such a short amount of time. I love how these portraits ended up feeling a little editorial while still being completely them. Some are clean and classic, some have movement and blur, and others are just the two of them laughing together in the middle of the property. It’s such a good example of how you really don’t need hours of portraits to get a gallery full of variety!

Bringing New Orleans to Their Wedding at Cedar Creek

After cocktail hour, the New Orleans band came back for one of my favorite parts of the entire day. They led Kiernan, Joe, and all of their guests from cocktail hour into the reception in a New Orleans-style parade! Everyone was walking, dancing, and celebrating together, and it was such a fun way to transition into the party. The reception kept that same relaxed energy going with dancing, cake, and plenty of candid moments. Between the bright colors, the band, and a couple who clearly just wanted to have fun with their people, this wedding at Cedar Creek felt personal from beginning to end.
