Inside a Moody and Modern New Year’s Eve Wedding at The Leona

Inside a Moody and Modern New Year’s Eve Wedding at The Leona

There are weddings that feel elegant, weddings that feel fun. And then there are weddings that somehow manage to be both. This wedding at The Leona was exactly that. From the moody getting ready spaces and candlelit reception room to the packed dance floor and midnight champagne toast, every part of the day felt intentional without taking itself too seriously. The couple spent the day surrounded by their favorite people. Celebrated in one of St. Louis’ most unique venues, and rang in the New Year with a room full of guests ready to party right alongside them!

Getting Ready For Their Dream Wedding at The Leona

The day started in one of The Leona’s getting ready suites, and honestly, it was the perfect place to ease into such a big day. The bride spent the morning with her bridesmaids and family, sharing drinks, laughing, and soaking in all those little moments before everything officially began. The room’s vintage-inspired details and soft window light created such a cozy atmosphere for getting ready photos. One of my favorite parts of the morning was how relaxed everyone felt. There wasn’t any rushing around or stress in the air. It felt like everyone was genuinely excited to spend the day together. And that energy carried through every part of the wedding!

A Beautiful First Look and Portraits Around The Leona

The couple chose to do a first look before the ceremony. And it ended up being one of the sweetest moments of the day. It wasn’t overly emotional or dramatic, it was just them being excited to finally see each other. The groom’s reaction was priceless, and within seconds they were both smiling and laughing. The Leona offers so many great spots for portraits, especially if you love a moodier aesthetic. Between the dark walls, vintage mirrors, dramatic lighting, and unique architectural details, every corner felt like a completely different backdrop. We spent some time exploring the venue before guests arrived, and it gave them a chance to slow down and enjoy a few quiet moments together before the celebration officially started.

The Ceremony at The Leona

The ceremony space at The Leona has such a timeless feel to it. The high ceilings, stained glass windows, and warm wood tones created a beautiful backdrop as guests gathered to watch these two get married. The ceremony itself felt intimate and heartfelt. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, the couple exchanged vows and officially started the next chapter of their lives together. It was simple, meaningful, and exactly what it needed to be. Sometimes the best ceremonies are the ones that focus less on production and more on the people standing at the front of the room.

A Beautiful Wedding Reception To New Years Eve Celebration

As guests moved into the reception space, the entire vibe shifted from romantic ceremony to New Year’s Eve celebration. The reception room looked incredible with its black-and-white dance floor, candlelit tables, dark tones, and vintage-inspired details. It felt elegant without feeling stuffy, which matched the couple perfectly. As midnight got closer, everyone made their way to the dance floor. Instead of waiting for a champagne toast to be handed to them, the couple personally poured champagne for their guests before the countdown.

It felt less like a formal wedding tradition and more like one giant celebration with all of their favorite people. When midnight finally arrived, cold sparklers lit up the room and the entire dance floor erupted. Guests cheered, hugged, toasted, and welcomed the New Year together. From there, the party only got better. The dance floor stayed packed, outfit changes were made, and the energy never slowed down. It was the kind of wedding reception people talk about long after it’s over.
