Lafayette Engagement Photos with a Whimsical Summer Feel

When people think about engagement photos, they often focus on the location, the outfits, or even the poses. While all of those things matter, what really makes a session feel special is when it reflects who you are as a couple. These romantic Lafayette engagement photos are a perfect example of that. From the very beginning, they had a clear vision for how they wanted their session to feel. They were drawn to soft summer colors, lots of greenery, candid moments, and locations that felt relaxed rather than overly styled. Lafayette ended up being the perfect backdrop for all of it.

The Vision Behind These Romantic Lafayette Engagement Photos

One thing I always encourage couples to do is share inspiration before their session. It doesn’t mean we’re trying to recreate someone else’s photos. It just helps me understand what feels most like you. Their mood board was full of garden paths, open green spaces, movement, and photos that felt natural and connected. Looking through the final gallery, it’s fun to see how those ideas came to life in a way that still feels completely their own. The overall vibe was simple, relaxed, and very summer!

Why Lafayette Was the Perfect Setting

One of my favorite things about this Lafayette engagement session was how many different looks we were able to get without traveling all over town. We had beautiful garden spaces, tree-lined paths, open grassy areas, and even some more urban spots mixed in toward the end of the evening. The variety made the gallery feel really complete. We could start with a softer, more whimsical feel and then transition into something a little more casual as the session went on. Having access to so many different backdrops is one of the reasons I love photographing couples in Lafayette.

Creating LGBTQ+ Engagement Photos That Feel Comfortable

As an LGBTQ+ friendly photographer, creating a comfortable experience is always one of my biggest priorities. The best photos happen when people feel like they can relax, be themselves, and focus on each other instead of worrying about how they’re supposed to pose. That’s exactly what happened here. We spent the evening walking, talking, exploring different spots, and letting moments happen naturally. By the end of the session, it felt less like taking photos and more like hanging out together while documenting this season of their lives. Those are always the galleries that feel the most genuine.
