They wanted something modern, stylish, and true to who they are, so we skipped the open fields and leaned into moody interiors, interesting textures, and a laid-back evening together. From cozy corners filled with vintage furniture to cocktails at a neighborhood bar, every location added something different to the story. The result was a gallery that feels editorial without ever feeling overdone, and honestly, it fit them perfectly. It felt less like a photoshoot and more like following them around on a really fun date night, which is exactly the kind of energy I love bringing to engagement sessions!

Moderne Archive was the perfect place to kick things off. If you’ve never been, it’s a beautifully curated vintage furniture showroom with exposed brick walls, huge industrial windows, warm lighting, and thoughtfully designed spaces around every corner. It feels creative without being overwhelming, which makes it such a fun location for couples who want something a little different than the typical outdoor session. One of my favorite things about photographing Emma and Alex here was how easy everything felt.

They settled into the space like they were hanging out in their own living room, laughing together on the couches, sneaking in quiet moments, and making every corner feel like it belonged to them. Emma’s sleek white dress paired perfectly with the modern interiors, while Alex’s classic outfit kept everything feeling timeless. We mixed direct flash with a more documentary approach to create images that felt polished and editorial while still capturing who they really are,

Ending the Evening with Cocktails at Kenny’s Upstairs After Their Engagement Photos at Moderne Archive

After spending time at Moderne Archive, we changed things up and headed over to Kenny’s Upstairs. I love ending sessions somewhere like this because it instantly shifts the mood. The dim lighting, vintage-inspired decor, green walls, classic cocktails, and even the old-school photo booth made it feel like we had stepped into another era while still keeping that modern editorial vibe. This part of the session honestly felt like tagging along on date night.

Emma and Alex grabbed drinks, tucked themselves into the photo booth, wandered around the bar, and spent time together without worrying about the camera. Those little in-between moments always end up being some of my favorites, the cheers across the bar, the way they looked at each other when they thought no one was paying attention, and the laughter that happened naturally throughout the night. It’s such a good reminder that engagement photos don’t have to feel overly posed. Sometimes the best galleries come from simply choosing locations that already feel like you.
