One of my favorite parts about planning an engagement session is seeing a couple’s inspiration come to life. These whimsical Lafayette Park engagement photos with Tricia and Austin are such a good example of that. They came into the planning process with a clear vision. Romantic gardens, warm evening light, and a few editorial-inspired photos that felt like they belonged in a magazine. We paired the timeless beauty of Lafayette Park with cocktails and chic city vibes at Brennan’s in the Central West End, and the final gallery ended up feeling just like the mood board they imagined, while still feeling completely like them.

One thing I always tell couples is that inspiration photos are meant to inspire, not be copied exactly. A mood board helps us understand the feeling you’re after. Whether that’s soft movement, beautiful light, a certain color palette, or the overall vibe. From there, we create something that’s unique to you. For Tricia and Austin, their inspiration was full of lush gardens, golden-hour light, elegant architecture, and candid moments that felt effortless. Lafayette Park was the perfect fit. Between the winding stone paths, towering trees, and gorgeous landscaping. Every corner gave us a new backdrop while still keeping that whimsical, romantic feel they were hoping for. Looking through their gallery next to the inspiration photos, it’s so fun to see how closely we were able to capture the overall vision without making the session feel staged.

Editorial Bar Vibes at Brennan’s in the Central West End

After spending time in the park, we changed things up with a second look and headed to Brennan’s in the Central West End. This part of the session brought in a completely different energy and balanced out the soft garden portraits perfectly. The tailored outfits, cocktails, warm lighting, and classic bar interiors gave everything an editorial feel while still keeping the session relaxed and fun. I love recommending a second location when it fits a couple’s vision because it adds so much variety to the final gallery. In one evening, Tricia and Austin walked away with timeless outdoor portraits, stylish city photos, and a gallery that feels like it tells a complete story instead of looking like every image was taken in the same spot. It’s proof that you don’t have to choose between two different styles, you really can have both!
